Tamang, lost his cow while taking it to the shepherd and returned home in
despair after not finding it anywhere. He said that a yogi appeared in his
dream at night and said that the cow was on the top of the hill where he used
to hold daily pujas and fairs. On that day, it was the 14th day of Mangsir
Chaturdashi. The next morning, as he had dreamed, he reached the hill hanging
from a tree branch.
When he saw the cow
pouring milk at the place where the Dupcheswar Mahadev Temple is now located,
he was surprised and thought to himself, “I will hold daily pujas and fairs
here.” He returned, and after the cow came down intact, he named this place
Dugdeshwar Mahadev, and the name became a misunderstanding, and it is now
Dupcheswar Mahadev.
