Ghyangswara, a historical, religious, and tourist area located in Panchakanya Rural Municipality-4 of Nuwakot district, has started to become a favorite of domestic tourists.
Ghyangswara, located at
an altitude of 2,200 meters, is the center of the district and 36 kilometers from
the federal capital Kathmandu is now at a high altitude of 2,200 meters, so
The number of tourists visiting the place has increased during the winter season
to observe the panoramic view from a high place.
Hundreds of domestic tourists arrive at the place daily. Panchakanya Rural Municipality is removing bushes and shrubs through the Prime Minister’s Employment Program and constructing necessary structures to make it a religious and tourist area.”With the construction of the Bhume Devi Temple, playgrounds, and homestays along with the necessary structures to attract tourists, around 1,000 domestic tourists are coming from Nuwakot and the surrounding areas daily for forest feasts, excursions, and various formal programs,” “Economic activities including consumption, purchase, and sale of local agricultural produce have also become active.”
Along with the Prime
Minister’s Employment Program, the rural municipality has built a park with
statues of martyrs who lost their lives during the armed conflict and planted
tea plants with the labor of the residents of the municipality. The lush green
tea gardens, water, electricity, toilets, free internet, and attractive ‘selfie
points’ for those who want to take photos and videos in the valley-like
location attract the attention of those who visit Ghyangswara, said local
Purushottam Khadka.
Khadka mentioned that Ghyangswara has started to become a favorite destination for tourists in Nuwakot in the last five years. “With the increase in the arrival of domestic tourists, its promotion is also being done. Since it is close to Kathmandu, those who are looking for an open space can come here, and homestays are operating with arrangements for lunch and food made from local agricultural produce. In addition, the sale of local produce is increasing, and the income of houses and hotels is also increasing,” he said.
Chairman Tamang informed that the rural municipality has built and brought into operation houses with government investment. “Attractive hotels, restaurants, and houses are also being built by the private sector. The rural municipality has been facilitating the operation of houses and the construction of infrastructure. This has helped the locals focus on earning money,” he said.
Chairman Tamang said
that the altitude of Ghyangswara spread over an area of 150 ropanis, ranges
from 1,700 to 2,200 meters, making it known as an open valley. He said that the
trekking route to the Ganesh temple at a high location has been built from the
middle of the tea garden, which has increased its importance as a pilgrimage
site for Hindus and Buddhists.
Although there is a
well-maintained road with blacktop to Lakuri Bhanjyang, the center of
Panchakanya rural municipality, it is about five km of rural road, so the rural
municipality is requesting the federal government for assistance in
constructing more infrastructure, including a well-maintained road, said
Chairman Tamang.
Accordingly, Tamang said
that Nepali Congress spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, who is a member of
the House of Representatives and represents the same place, has shown interest
in building infrastructure, with the idea of turning the under-construction
playground into a multi-purpose stadium.
Congress spokesperson
Dr. Mahat had expressed his commitment to taking the initiative in constructing
additional infrastructure, including a well-organized road, the preservation of
the Bhumesthan temple, and the construction of a multi-purpose stadium in the
Ghyangswara rural municipality, which is becoming an attractive center for
tourism.
Chairman Tamang informed
us that he has assured us to provide the necessary budget in the coming fiscal
year to complete the plan to organize the structures here, as it is possible to
enjoy the picturesque environment with the view of the mountain ranges of
Nuwakot and the surrounding districts.
“Spokesperson Dr. Mahato
has committed to ensuring the budget under multiple headings from the tourism
and physical infrastructure sectors to complete the plan to build a tourist
route through the construction of the Bhumesthan Ganesh temple located in
Thaplo at the highest point (2,200 meters), the playground under construction,
the blacktop of the road remaining to reach that place, and the construction of
a road connecting Sindhupalchowk via Golfuvhyang in Dupcheshwor,” said Chairman
Tamang.
Locals say that in order to promote tourism, Nuwakot has started taking
advantage of Kakani, Suryachaur, Shivpuri National Parks, as well as
Ghyangswara recently.
